The Dark Knight - 6:24 PM
I caught The Dark Knight yesterday courtesy of complimentary movie passes that the Resort gave out for some Family Summer Fling Fun goodwill gesture. I have to say I can't really tell you how awesome Heath's performance was unlike everyone who have been raving about his performance, because ummm, my hands were covering my eyes about 75% of the time he was on. But I did hear his voice, and I fear I will only recover from that pyschochillingfreaky laughter in about umm, 2 years. My colleague brought her 5 year old son. I fear he will never recover, period. But I'm sure it will be cool to tell your friends (if he has any considering he is only 5) that he watched the Dark Knight since it IS a PG-13 show.
Next week, I will go in for another complimentary movie and I will choose something more light-hearted. Make that WAYYYY light hearted. Like Travelling Pants of the Sisterhood 2!!! I caught the first one on TV and absolutely adored it. 3 out of the 4 girls are big stars (America, Alexis and Blake), and the 4th is kind of my favorite... then I think I ought to watch WALL-E cos apparently its good and why not, since you can kind of theatre hop if you do your movie times homework beforehand and result in paying NOTHING to watch 2 movies?! I have a brilliant mind, I tell you.
OK so I know I signed a confidentiality document before I started work, and am absolutely not supposed to tell outsiders of the guests who come to stay on our property. But this is just so exciting. Last week, there was a minor earthquake in L.A...nothing serious no worries. But we got an email after lunch saying the entire entourage of this Middle Eastern country were in the States for diplomatic visits... that or shopping down Rodeo Drive, I really don't know. I just think that diplomatic visits are boring if you don't throw in some PIZZAZ like Cirque De Soleil or eating sushi. So anyway, the email says that the First Lady (or it could be the Queen, there REALLY technically is no president but only prime minister in that country) was badly shaken and had to leave L.A. So they have a standby private jet on standby to take them to Las Vegas about 5 days before they were scheduled to arrive. So they were wondering, could we PLEASE give them their originally assigned rooms 5 days in advance if no one else is occupying them so they won't have to shift rooms later on?
The last line on the email reads: They are staying on the highest floor, in the biggest suite, for $5,000 per night. Holy. Ok so I've heard of rich people, but this brings it to a different league.
THe next day, another email comes in. The First Secretary, and the Head of Security are coming in, and they would liek the PENTHOUSE SUITES. OK first of all, I fully respect the importance of the position of the Head of Security, but WAH LAU... alright maybe he is a REALLY big guy and needs alot of space to work out? And anyway, the Sales Manager was asking whether a rate of $3,999 is REASONABLE to charge them.
Reasonable? REASONABLE? Thats practically robbery in broad daylight!!! But I kindly responded to the email after much discussion with my Manager...
'$3,999.00 is OK if the guest is willing to pay that amount. We would accept $2,500.00'
I do remember how excited I was to send out that email. My department does not deal with such high end suites, they are usually reserved for the Whales who come in for the Casino. So that was the first time I had to deal with such circumstances, and probably going to be the last until another royal family comes through.
