When It Rains, It Pours - 11:08 PM
Yes its true people.... When you're out on luck, you're REALLY out. Like what happened to me today, for instance.I was on my way to a furniture store plus some shopping when I realized I forgot my phone. Oh well, NEVER MIND. I'll be back in a few hours.
A highway later, I was pulling into the road, I heard a loud noise, and a VERYYYY LOUD WHIRRING sound. Hey, guess what. My front right tire just blew. So I pulled into the nearest parking lot, wanted to call GEICO (my friendly gecko insurance company) except that I... didn't have a phone.
Awesome.
So thankfully I chose a good parking lot to park at, the USPS Postal Service Place, and went inside and there were people streaming in and out to get their mail. I asked a couple of people for cellphones to let me call GEICO but no one was willing. I rang the bell and ask the lady whether I could borrow their phone. No, can't.. They didnt have cordless phones and they absolutely definitely cannot let me in there. But there's a payphone, and she offers 2 quarters.
Then I spotted this very ci xiang looking uncle and I asked him, and without question he whipped out his cellphone and started dialing GEICO's number. 10minutes later, the phonecall concluded and the kind uncle went on his way, leaving me to wait for the tow truck for about an hour.
The truck came and man, it was kinda embarrassing to ride on it!!! But no choice, it took me to Goodyear where I had 2 brand new good tires put in. And then the mechanic informs me that one of the hub caps flew off. Gee. What are hub caps? Someone explain, WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS AND WHY ARE THEY NECESSARY? I have no idea.
But anyway, one flew off as I blew the tire and yah, its now lying somewhere on the I-215. I hope its happy lying there.
So anyway, lesson learnt: Not that I should learn how to change a tire which I really should but I can't. ... But ALWAYS remember your cellphone, and ALWAYS get GEICO. Never knew the cheesy gecko mascot would end up being my savior in desperate times, but it is.
I heart GEICO. And I hope my car stops all this nonsense! I have no time for this.
