EXPO is on its way! - 11:48 PM
Student run events are great learning curves for us, because we are able to make mistakes without being penalized for making them. But sometimes though, when you see all that work you put in revealing crack after crack, you can't help but wonder why did it have to happen to you.In the past 5 days, three guest speakers have suddenly canceled on us, citing last minute schedule changes and one QUITTING her job. Yesterday. Can you believe it? After working in the same place for 30 years, she quit 3 days before she's supposed to fly to East Lansing for the Career fair and to be on a panel. Seriously. 3 days?!
And then today it was suddenly relayed to us that one of our rooms that we thought we had booked for a seminar, haven't been booked after all and it is gonna be occupied by another group during the time we scheduled our event in. To make matters worse, we have already printed our programs and now have to think of alternatives/ways to direct students to the other rooms etc. Yes, 3 days before the fair, we realized this mistake.
Having said that, I never expected a perfect, smooth-sailing event. But this, ISN'T IT A WEE BIT TOO MUCH? Thankfully, I have a great co-director whom I have a great working relationship with, so its all cool.
CAREER EXPO XXIX, 4 days to go.
