Jump, Jive, and Bid! - 5:36 PM
600,700,800-where???I swear if I hear that buzzing again, I might go nuts. Haha, but it was all good fun. Swing Auction has ended!!!
After 10 months of hard work, the Auction was a success! We managed to raise slightly more than last yr (about $90,000+) though we didn't receive as much donations compared to last year. Dr. Cichy our dean was so happy that he sent an email to the entire School and alumni board of directors to commend us.
The craziest item we had up for sale was a pair of tickets to the NCAA FInal Four Basketball Championships. Thats the semis and championship final game to COLLEGE BASKETBALL. Haha, told you that college sports is BIG in the US...these kids go on to play in the NBA or NFL, its mega bucks! $shing$ Anyway, since you can't get tickets ANYWHERE else but at the Auction (not including blackmarkets), they went for a whopping $3600! This is crazy. Men are willing to pay that much for a pair of tickets to basketball games, than spend $500 on a 2 night stay at the Ritz. Totally unfanthomable. We had a pair of Billy Joel - Live at the Palace (detroit) tickets that went for more than they're worth too. woohoo!
Post Auction, I welcome the free time, but of course its bitter sweet at the same time. Knowing that that, was the last Auction I will lead, is kinda sad. (didn't i just come to college?) But Melissa and I will be serving as honorary Auction advisors to the new eboard cos they're kinda clueless, poor things.
Oh, did I tell you I won the bid on a 2 night stay at the Ritz-Carlton Singapore? HEHEHEHEHEHE. Well, no one bidded on it (min bid $400) at first, so what happens is that all items that were not bidded on will go into the final round, starting bid price at their INCREMENT BIDS. So you see fantastic buys starting at $20, $10, $5 even!! So of course everything was cleared at the end of the night, and I got the ritz stays for usd140. PLEASE, TELL ME IT WAS A FANTASTIC BUY!
Well, in case you are hopping on the bandwagon, hoping that I would give them to you, they were sent home this morning. I thought it would make a great present for my Ma's birthday, though she complained that the bed was too high the last time we sent her there. (EXCUSE MEEEEE YOU CAN SLEEP ON MY LOW BED LOR, I WILL GO IN YOUR PLACE)
Pictures to come soon, I'm super lazy...as usual, what else.
In the meantime, you can find me lazing on the bed with the remote in one hand!
