IHSO graduation dinner - 7:29 PM
Remember I mentioned earlier that I had a Graduation Dinner to attend? Well, it happened last Saturday. I volunteered to make the invitations, so here's a peek at them...
Meimei hor? Yeah... I figured if this is something I really enjoy, I should do it well. So tadang, I got the stuff online again. You would think its not hard to make invitation cards. You're right, its not. What is difficult, however... is to make PERSONALIZED cards. You see eh, the one you see on the bottom left reads: Before you pack your bags for the big city........... I can only give it to people who are REALLY going to the big cities. So that means Miki, Maria, Mira, Parimal. But I can't give it to 3 of the girls cos they're really close, so there's no 'SURPLAISE!' element if I give the same to them. So I gave it to Miki and Parimal. The one you see on the right bottom reads 'Remember the great time we had in Puerto Rico?' ... I gave to Bhavin n Geoff. I couldn't give it to Parimal cos in the same case as the girls, he is close to Bhavin and so, like very boring if I give them the same. The one you see partially behind, is balloon felt cutouts. I gave them to Steven and Maria cos 1) I don't have any more manly cards to Steven, 2) I can't give Maria the same as Miki. WAHHAHAHA . If you think I'm boh liao, you are probably right. I personally think I'm the only person in the whole world who will think of such things. Anyway, they were pleasantly surprised and Miki nearly cried out when she saw the card. OH, I did a little calligraphy on the envelopes too. See.... I had to practise leh, especially the G in 'Geoffrey'. I'm hoping they keep the card as a farewell present cos I put alot of effort in it, u know...

Anyway, I had booked a room at a fine dining restaurant Troppo in downtown Lansing for the night. The people working there are apparently incapable of handling SIMPLE instructions such as 'I want to book the room on 29th April'. They called us up on Fri (dinner was Sat) and said 'oh we booked another group to come in at 9pm, so you guys have to get out by 8.30pm... meaning, can you come at 6 instead of 7?' LIKE, NO? If I could come at 6, I would had booked the place for 6! What do you mean, CAN U COME AT 6 INSTEAD OF 7? Ridiculous. And then he realized we had wanted the room for 29th and not the 6th of May. SHEESH. And mind you, it costs $100 extra to book the room. How dare they ask us to go earlier! But anyway, all is fine after that. Heng ah, cos everywhere's booked for Graduaton, and since we're in East Lansing, we don't have much of a choice.
Anyway, we decided to go cocktail/formal on this dinner cos... its fun? wahhaha Its really fun!!! Especially when everyone's game enough.

Everyone decked in their finest: Clockwise from top left: Guys & I, Angela & I, the Girls, Geoff & I. Quite upset at my hair though. SO flat!!!! And you all see... Usually I'm the most dressed up, but not that night! Everyone were wearing liek prom dresses man. Heng we have a room! The other diners were looking at us left and right whenever we went to the bathroom. =P
Geoff picked us up from Maria's place, and when he saw us he went 'ehhh I'm sorta casual. Should I go home and pick up a blazer?' eh... YES?!??!?! And so he went home to get a blazer.
And so, we ate....

Drank... (them, not me)........

And went crazy! You all see how kua zhang Miki's dress is? WAhahhaa not like she gave a damn. Thats Maria whom u can't see. She's umm... kinda short.

We brought in a customized ice cream cake. Just for them.

The dinner, I must say, went pretty well. Unfortunately, my favorite Indians, Bhavin n Parimal couldn't join us. (there are like a gazillion Indians in the world and they are my favorites. what a compliment.) They had to head to Ann Arbor to attend their friend's graduation. Tragic, I realize I don't even have shots with them. And they're graduating and I dunno when we will meet again. Geoff says we should all come back to MSU in 20 years, cos thats when The School of HB celebrates its centennial birthday. And then we all shuddered, cos we can't imagine ourselves old. *shudder*
We gave short speeches about how great it was knowing each other. And then we talked about our summer plans, laughed at the memories of Puerto Rico, and said our goodbyes.
Good bye, Seniors! You guys have been exceptional role models to me. Stripping away all your leadership positions and achievements, I see wonderful human beings. My only regret is not knowing you all better before you have to leave. Lets hope we all keep in touch!
One last group shot. YOu will be missed!29th April 2006: IHSO Graduation Dinner @ Troppo, Downtown Lansing
