Oscar Fever! - 12:13 PM
0 comment(s)
Just had my Jazz test. UMMmmm....lets just hope that my crapping skills that tide me over Os and As will help me out this time again. At least my ears didn't fail me - I could differentiate between the 11 Jazz tunes we were supposed to study...well, ALMOST.

Anyway, rejoice, cos OSCAR FEVER IS IN THE AIR! Alas, unlike last year when I made it a point to watch as many Oscar-nominated movies as I can, I didn't do anything this year. BUT I WANTED to...U know, then one week passes and you don't go to the movies. Another week goes and you say 'I'll catch it next week', but secretly you know it will never happen. But still you HOPE. Last year, I was thrilled to be watching the Oscars LIVE, which doesn't necessarily translate to being on location. It just means that I'm not watching a rerun on Channel 5 on Monday night cos I had to miss the real thing due to SCHOOL. (sounds familiar huh?).

For the first time, I could sit there for the entire few hours, gawking at the stars and critiquing their outfits. THats probably my favourite part of the oscars. I remember Hilary Swank's Calvin Klein backless dress, Cate Blanchett's golden one shoulder gown, Renee's becoming-boring red, strapless-big skirted Carolina Herrera, Charlize's sky blue couture, Gisele's white empire dress that only GISELE can carry off while hanging on to HER MAN, and of course, the one and only - Mr. Johnny Depp in his ultra moody mask of messy (bad) hair, moustache (boo) and navy suit. YIKES, REALLY JOHNNY! COME ON JOHNNY....do us proud this time!! I still remember Clint Eastwood rightfully winning Best Director for Million Dollar BAby, and Jamie Foxx teasing the crowd with his Ray Charles impersonation and giving that very touching speech 'I can't wait to go to sleep tonight. I've got so much to tell you (grandma)', when he thank his late Grandma for his success. And in case you are wondering, NO I did not google his speech.. I remembered it!

One year..has it been a YEAR already? sigh. And in the world of Hollywood, everything moves MUCH quicker. Since the 05' Oscars, Hollywood has seen its fair share of split ups: Hilary's split with her husband Chad (but lets hope they work things out, they're so down to earth), Gisele no longer has an arm to cling to this Oscars, Sheryl Crow had to find another ride after her breakup with Lance Armstrong (hopefully this time she will find someone who has a CAR), and random couples that I don't remember cos I'm no longer surprised.

In the past year, La-la land seemed to have embraced motherhood too! Britney had a baby (weird, I didn't know babies are allowed to have babies), the damn Jolie-Pitts are HAVING a baby in Paris or was it Lagos, I no longer care (TA MA DE!), and even the believed-to-be infertile Tom Cruise has SUDDENLY hooked up with Katie (WHO?) and guess what? THEY ARE HAVING A BABY TOO! RIDICULOUS! On a more positive note of pregnancies, Gwyneth is expecting again and Gwen Stefani (not a fan though)looks surprisingly better pregnant than normal. Oh, not to mention the goddess Heidi Klum a second time and STILL looks like, well.. a Goddess.

Of course, the Hollywood IT girls won't disappoint...in the course of the year, Lindsay Lohan's gone from redhead to blonde to brunette and to anorexia, Nicole Richie lost ANOTHER 50 pounds yada yada. But, in this world of celebreality, you know you can ALWAYS count on one person to keep it real: PARIS HILTON - still dumb, still blonde, still INCREDIBLY unaware, still dumb, still talentless and attention seeking.. and did I mention she's still DUMB? see! she's the only one who didn't change.a.single.bit.*rolls eyes*

This Oscars, expect some BROKEBACK craze! Shit, its like the biggest show of the year and I haven't seen it! Lee Ang makes the Chinese population so proud, just like Zhang Ziyi or some might argue (but harlow at least she's there. u're not.)Dreamy George has been nominated for 3 awards which I unfortunately don't see him winning (but oh well, at least he's going and we'll get to see him)... We'll see Reese battle Felicity in the Best Actress category...Hmmm who do I want the award to go to? Surprisingly, I've seen Walk The Line(had NO idea it would be nominated for the OScars though)... Reese was good, but whether it deserves as Oscar, I don't know. And while I haven't watched TransAmerica, I think whichever woman who has attempted to transform herself into a Man-Woman DESERVES SOMETHING. (plus felicity is much older, so I am silently rooting for her. But then again Reese is mega cute and has a GORGEOUS husband....So I'm really confused right now) And though wads-his-name may have portrayed some random guy pretty well in Capote, I find myself cheering the Brokeback team on too...partly cos I don't think Heath will get another chance like this in a long time, and cos Jake is super cute. ^_^

Ok, i have a next test coming up in half an hours time. So I betta go and nua for awhile before it starts. I can't wait for some red-carpet star-watching action! YIPPEE. Watch out for an update on Sunday evening, folks. RUOYING, OUT!
