An experiment gone wrong - 5:58 PM
So check this out. This is WHY I have always resisted going to local hair salons... cos i KNOW they will screw up. And of course, they didn't disappoint... they DID screw up. GGGRRRRRRJust when I got gung-ho and said 'how bad can they screw up hi-lights...', they proved me wrong. Before you can say 'huh? sure not...dun kua zhang leh', my hair's turned a caramel crop. HARLOW? CARAMEL?? ME? I'M ASIAN....
OK, to their credit, they are extremely generous with highlights... generous CHUNKS of highlights in fact, but wahhh xiao jie.... I'm not a blonde girl who needs different shades of blonde to look 'natural', I'm ASIAN leh... caramel chunks just won't do! Yes, CHUNKS. And I am NOT exaggerating. And thats how she screwed up my hair.
As she's blow drying my hair, I sat there, transfixed in a morbid kinda way, staring at that great ahlianess on top of my head, also known as my former- HAIR. My jaw must have dropped an inch, cos she asked me 'so how do you think of it?'
In America, even if you think its s0-so, you say 'AWESOME'.... but sorry, I'm Asian... nice we say nice, not nice, we.... gawk. 'ehh.... ahh... I think its a little....too much?' She proceeded to explain that she USE VERY LITTLE FOIL already... but like yah, u didn't use alot of foil, but each foil u spread the dye on a generous amount of hair?!? But then she was nice enough to recolor parts of it for me... So at the salon, after she redid parts of it the 2nd time, it looked pretty ok.
And then I got back, and I don't know whether its the different lighting or wad but... HARLOW I STILL LOOK LIEK AH LIAN?! So I took pictures of myself to see whether I look ah lian, and YARH?!? I DO?!??! *sigh* DOn't bother asking me for the pictures.. DON'T. D-O-N-'-T
Anyway, so at least I HAVE tried, so I am swearing the salons off. Until I manage enough courage and gung-ho ness to try again. Currently waiting for the Japanese or Korean hairdressers in NYC come May.... OH, COME WHAT MAY?!?!?
Today is a tragic day. Just tragic.
