For As long as We Remember - 12:34 PM
0 comment(s)
Andrea says I have to blog abt our gathering...but she has already done it, and there is no way I can out-write her. And it happened LAST YEAR lehh. So long ago how to remember? Must I still write about it? Andrea said 'ok.. dun blog dun blog!!', but OK la Andrea, I'll blog la blog....

Basically, all I remember about our gathering this past Tuesday (in 2005), was the amazing spread, swell company, and the continuous stream of laughter. Seriously, isn't that what's most important? The little bits here and there, we will soon forget with time, but the big picture of the day that we surprised Cherie with my return, the food Andrea whipped up, 4 of us gathering around eating, drinking and making merry, taking pictures, us flopped on the couch watching the 9pm show, laughing abt it together and lamenting about how we're about to puke at the same time... THAT I know we will remember.

Just like how Kelly seeked my help in blogging about our experience in Brunei 02' on her behalf. I had so much difficulty searching for the memories to fit into the right order. Isn't it weird how the flood of emotions hit me (that propelled me to want to write it), yet how excruciating it was to finally write it down word for word. I became so concerned in noting the worthy moments just because they were so funny that it became such a hassle when all I could recall was that we had a lot of fun! I semi-forced myself to peer into the details, but it all ended up sounding like a big mess when I re-read it later on. Whoever who wasn't there would never be able to imagine us doing the things we did, laughing the way we laughed.

Those were experiences and memories close to our hearts and our hearts alone. Its ours to revisit, and ours to keep.

Languages are amazing things but while we can whip out a pen and start using every flowery adjective we know to address every single happening right down to the bone, what we cannot do is to use words to recreate that warm fuzzy sensation that had swept us off our feet.
Just to let you know, our gathering was awesome but lets not go beyond. Any attempt to scrunitize each detail will be an unjustified and most importantly, unnecessary venture.

Its nice to note that the 4 of us have made the transition between being a JC student to a Uni student fairly well. Of course to say that 'Everything was just like before' isn't entirely true because its apparent that we have moved on with our lives beyond the phase that we had met each other. Though its inevitable that our lives diverge, its without a doubt, comforting to know that there are still people who want to see you and 'catch up' despite not having seen each other for some time. Though we go to different places and lead considerably different lives, we always come back to fit in the pieces nicely. I guess some friends really can grow up without growing apart. So a big thank you, girls (and to my other friends out there)!

That memory of our gathering (as well as Brunei 02') is now carefully stashed away at the back of my head in my recollection bank. Yep I'll dig them up once in awhile and smile about them, and oh well, sometimes I might forget about certain things that happened. But thats what gatherings are for, aren't they? To update on our lives yeah sure...but most importantly, to remind each other why we became friends, and why we ought to remain friends.

Hope you guys had a Happy New Year! =)
