Back in the US - 6:37 PM
Today's 6am flight was not as bad as I expected, no thanks to that vomit-inducing flight I took when I went home, thanks to not sleeping enough prior to departure. So here I am, back in my hole in Michigan. It is stil the 9th of Jan here. Seems like I haven't lost a day. Despite having slept thru most of the journey, I am still feeling a lil groggy. But I had a look at my face just now after a shower and boyyy...I already see the strains of a long-haul flight on my face. Guess I'll put on a mask later on before I go to sleep. As I wipe after the last of my fingernail-polish off just now along with the sworvoski crystals that were encrusted on them, I swiped away the last of my Winter Break. Gone are the salon worthy DIY blow-dried, carefully styled hair... gone are the glitzy earrings...gone are the flowy skirts...gone are the fancy bags I so carefully match with each outfit...Gone are the frequent manicures, haircuts and eyebrow threading sessions....Gone are the highteas (however occasional they are), Crystal Jade, Chomp-Chomp, Dingtaifeng, chill-out sessions at Coffeebean Taka, mahjong sessions with friends....Gone is me. Sigh.
Its back to my trusty ol' Deuter bagpack, plain ol' studs, illfitting jeans (that don't conceal large hips), gross ol' boots to trudge in the snow with, dorm food (!!) and...OMG, classes that started today that I've conveniently skipped. Also, I feel the dry air sapping out the moisture on my face, hair and hands already! I miss easily spotting cheap and good food every corner I turn, I miss the amount of space I have in my house, I miss smsing friends and meeting up impromptu, I miss chit-chatting with my mom in the day when the rest are out... What can I say but.....I MISS THE HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Home is Where the Heart Is, and how true that is. Meishan thinks that I've made the right decision to go home this holz, and I think so too. I mean, its never wrong to go home, is it? This is the real start of 2006 for me.
*suffering from jet lag. DAMN*
