Once a Klutz, Always a Klutz - 1:36 AM
While growing up, I was always the very chor lor one. I never failed to break something whenever I visited the housewares dept in the Departmental stores. SERIOUSLY. Wine glass...been there, done that... Miniature glass ornaments....did that too....Mugs...yep... Small vases...check. I remembered once at home, I backed my chair into the glass shelves. The entire thing SHATTERED. like, SHATTERED into 10 000 pieces. *oops* had to get that replaced. So as you can imagine, I was really kinda like a bull in a china shop, LITERALLY.but you know, you sorta get away with it cos you're young and restless....and stupid...AND clumsy...and every adjective negatively associated with being a kid.
Once, I broke a small deco at my mom's friend's place over Chinese New Year once cos my hands were itchy lahh... Made my mom so malu, but her friend was so nice about it. She was saying 'OH you must have liked it alot! Do you wanna bring one home?' (cos she had numerous ornaments of the same family) . No she wasn't being sarcastic, she was genuinely ok abt it. ( i think its cos the ornaments weren't that pretty actually)
Another time, I broke a christmas ornament when I was over at someone's house for the Xmas party once. I was probably about.... 12? How do I know those things are so fragile? I merely squeezed them. n they went -CRACK-. oh goodness me... the hosts were veryyy nice about it too. I mean, they HAD to have the Christmas spirit right?
So anyway, I went to Pier 1 today. They sell you know, stuff.. like cushions, baskets, cutlery, silverware etc etc .... AND christmas ornaments. OOH CUTE! all lined up together... SO SHINY, SO NICE! So I took one up and wanted to put it back... NO, if you're thinking I broke the ornament I was holding, YOU'RE WRONG. I didn't..........I broke the one next to it...
COS WHEN I WAS PUTTING THE ONE I WAS HOLDING BACK, IT SORTA KNOCKED INTO THE ONE BESIDE IT AND IT FELL TO THE FLOOR...TOTALLY INNOCENT LOR! so like OOPS FASTER WALK AWAY!!! outta sight, outta mind...
Someone tell me, how to cure this klutzi-ness ah? Other than knocking into things, I have to learn how to be more graceful in the kitchen... For example, when I'm cutting onions and garlic, I wanna make sure its really those things I'm cutting and not my FINGERS. FYI, my nails ALWAYS kena. And when I boil water, I gotta make sure I don't splash SCALDING water all over the counter and my hand as well. geez...its not easy man. its not easy.
*this entry's written in memory of the innocent ornament I broke today...accidentally, of cos. may your 500 pieces all rest in piece. DO not give me bad dreams, I will not be intimidated in ANY way.*
